On a mission to change the world,
one bite at a time.
Hi there. I’m Holly.
If you’re new to my blog- welcome!
A bit about me:
I have twenty years in the traditional healthcare field under my belt- from emergency medicine to medical record auditing. Short of drawing blood or prescribing things, I’ve nearly done it all. I even had six letters after my name professionally at one point due to my certifications. I am a subject matter expert in healthcare risk adjustment, clinical documentation and the International Classification of Diseases, and do you know what I learned after two decades?
That it’s literally all made up garbage.
I lived with crushing depression and anxiety for many, many years, like so many of us do. At a crisis point, I found myself in a drug addiction, which led to a traumatic brain injury in late 2020. It was extremely severe, and it left my mind and body broken for several years. Doctors prescribed me pills which only made me worse, and I basically got told, “Well, this is just how you are now”. Tough, when how I was at the time was a completely broken person, hearing voices, and diagnosed with bipolar disorder- never expected to live a normal life again without heavy prescription drugs.
I rejected that reality and inserted my own, against medical advice. I started doing the exact opposite of what most doctors recommend, and it actually saved me.
(The healthiest people are those who only eat from nature and never visit a doctor for “preventative” medicine. Looking at you, Amish.)
Three years of changing my diet around, finding natural supplements, incorporating heavy exercise, eating a high-fat diet, and I am now healthier at nearly 42 than I was at 21. Best part? I no longer have any mental health condition of any kind.
I am, after all of this, the “grief expert” who knows how to completely cure your sadness with diet, exercise and what I call “mental therapy” (the process of repeating positive and reassuring things to yourself in your head to form new neural pathways).
Life can suck, but it CAN get better, if you’re determined enough to enter the war for your own life, rather than be a casualty of it. No one knows this better than me, and if you don’t know you’re in a war, you can’t fight it.
Make no mistake, we are at war, friends. And the enemy doesn’t fight fair. The enemy sells you soybean oil, statins and fat-free cottage cheese and will tell you that you should consume them “for your own good.” Are you going to listen to those lies, or are you going to start swinging back with a belly full of steak and eggs?
Read the blog and I’ll prove my case. Start way back at the beginning and work your way forward.
Whatever you’re dealing with, you got this. Don’t give up.
